LaGrange girls soccer hosts summer camp for young girls interested in the game

The LaGrange High School girls soccer team held their annual camp this week for young aspiring soccer players in the community. The annual camp that is entering its sixth edition has seen over 50 girls from the community to come out and enjoy a week filled with soccer.
The camp, hosted by LaGrange coaches’ Jon Callahan and Andy Fritchley, started on Monday and will see its conclusion on Friday when the local fire department will supply a truck to give the kids a wet summer send off with all sorts of fun in the water. Each day has a theme with Tuesday being jersey day and Wednesday being “wacky” day where all the kids dress up in clothes that don’t match and/or have crazy designs.
The camp is primarily designed to give girls ages 4-14 a safe place to learn soccer and enjoy a week with other like-minded girls. After taking a year off due to COVID in 2020, the camp has stormed back the last two years and now has just as many participants as they did before the pandemic struck.
The two coaches were joined by a plethora of the Grangers players that will be a part of the 2022-23 girls soccer team. Former players that have since moved on from LaGrange High School returned to help coach the camp.
