WEEKEND TICKET: Back-to-school events, more, happening this weekend

As the Back-to-school season looms, this weekend holds some exciting last minute events and a special appearance from TLC’s Mama June. 

FRIDAY

  • The Hogansville Public Library will be hosting family movie night at its location at 3:30 p.m. Friday. Visit https://thrl.org/program/movie-day-9/ for the movie title. This event is free and no library card registration is required.

SATURDAY

  • The Downtown LaGrange Development Authority will host its Market on Main from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The market features vendors selling fruits and vegetables, as well as jams, jellies, pastries, eggs and more. Vendor booths can be found at Flagpole Park and along the sidewalks in the 100 block of Main Street.
  • Pay It Forward 2K15 Inc will be hosting a community-wide back-to-school bash and school supply giveaway on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at Eastside Park, 240 Niles St. This event will feature face painting, foam palooza, a game truck, free hot dogs, chips, fresh baked cookies, peanut butter chews, ice cream and snow cones. A firetruck will provide water entertainment and give away free pencils. Coca-Cola will be giving away free sodas. Pay It Forward will also be giving away 700 backpacks filled with school supplies for students K-12.
  • The Hogansville Public Library will host its Page Turner book club at 2 p.m. Open to all adults, no library card/registration required. Light refreshments will be provided.
  • New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church on 111 Johnson Street will host its back-to-school giveaway from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Students will be given a bookbag filled with pencil, pens, crayons, notebook paper, etc.
  • Purge Nation in West Point will host a meet n’ greet with reality television star Mama June from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Reservations are recommended and can be made at (706) 501-1253.
  • Broad Street Church of Christ’s on 408 Broad Street will host a back-to-school bash from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Food will be available, as well as an inflatable and school supplies for the first 100 kids who are present.  Sign up for freebies here: https://broadstreet.breezechms.com/form/f485bf.
  • Mean Mary, an American, bluegrass, blues, folk artist from Nashville, will perform at PureLife Studios from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $22.50 and can be purchased at https://www.purelifelagrange.com/tickets-1/mean-mary-july-30-2022.
