Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

After suffering a loss to snap a four game winning streak last time out, the Troup softball team was able to get back in the win column on Thursday as the Tigers downed Fayette County 15-0.

The Tigers exploded for eight runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back. Troup added another run in the third inning before scoring six runs in the fifth and final inning to put the game to bed.

Ramsey Clark stole the show for the Tigers as she went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored. She has been miss consistent all season with her ability to grind out singles but showed some pop tonight to get her first double and triple of the season. Of players who have played in at least 70% of the games this season, Clark leads the team in batting average (.593), on base percentage (.586) , hits (16), and runs scored (14). She is also second in RBIs (7) despite batting lead off most of the game.

Camdyn Bassett got the start on the mound and pitched two innings and only allowed one hit on four strikeouts. Bassett dropped her ERA to 1.07 as the de facto no. 2 pitcher behind Maggie McDonald. Faith Horton came in to pitch the final three innings and only let up one hit on three strikeouts. Horton’s ERA sits at 0.00 through six innings pitched. She has only allowed one hit on 11 strikeouts on the season. Horton also chipped in offensively with two RBIs.

Sheniyah Philpot has not be an every game starter but is forcing herself into that equation as she has nine hits in her last 12 at bats. She was 2-for-2 in the game with an RBI to boot. McDonald did not come into pitch but gave good offensive production by going 1-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a walk. Shelby Addison, Chloe Liechty, Haley Kitchens, Anna Grace Keller and Madeira Sirmons all had an RBI apiece.

Troup improved to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in region play. The Tigers are currently second in Region 4-AAAA. Troup will be back on the diamond against Harris County at home next Wednesday.
