By now, you have probably watched tons of coverage on Hurricane Ian’s landfall in southwest Florida Wednesday afternoon.

While the storm track moved east of our part of Georgia and sparred Troup County the path of high winds, we are all still very much in this together and will help our neighbors to the south as much as possible.

On Wednesday, Gov. Brian Kemp spoke at Kia Georgia and provided an update on Georgia’s response to Hurricane Ian, saying he had declared a statewide state of emergency. 

We know some people in our community have families impacted by the storm, whether it be directly in the storm’s path or slightly off the storm’s track. 

There may also be families that chose to travel to our area as they evacuated their homes in Florida. 

If you run across someone impacted by the storm, we encourage you to lend a hand and make them feel welcome as they are going through a stage of uncertainty, and we want them to go back home and remember how kind and thoughtful the people in Troup County are.
