In a showdown for the region championship, Callaway could not get much going in a 15-0 loss to Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy on Thursday.

The Cavaliers could not register a base runner as they got shut out in two innings of play. It was a tough showing as the Cavaliers put up a good fight against the Chargers at home earlier this season. Eagle’s Landing is one of the top-10 teams in AA softball right now.

Mackenzie Toney got the start on the mound for the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers have taken a few steps forward this year as they have already won the most games in a season since 2019. After finishing 9-16 and third in the region under first year head coach Josh King last season, the Cavaliers were able to finish second in their region and currently sit 12-14 with two winnable games against Shaw and Mt. Zion next week. Callaway will be on the road as the no. 1 seed will host a super regional.

The Cavaliers finished second in region play with a 10-2 record. They only trailed Eagle’s Landing who was undefeated in region play. Callaway will be back in action against Shaw next Tuesday.
