Horace Luther Carter, Jr., (90), of LaGrange, passed away on Oct. 8, 2022. 

He was born on July 27, 1932 to the late Horace Luther Carter, Sr. and Louella Lane Carter in LaGrange, Georgia.

 He was well liked throughout school and was part of the cheerleading team at LaGrange High School. Mr. Carter graduated from LaGrange High School in 1950 and continued his education at LaGrange College and completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Georgia. 

He proudly served in the United States Army and later was a salesman for Lenox Heating and Air before his retirement.

 Mr. Carter taught a Sunday School at First United Methodist where he was a member for many years. He also enjoyed delivering for Meals on Wheels, Georgia Bulldog Football, and spending time with his family. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Horace Luther “Luke” Carter, III; sister, Janice Carter.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Hale Carter; sons, Mark Carter (Angie), and Ken Carter; daughter, Dixie Carter (Connie); sister, Linda Turner; grandchildren, Kelli Sinclair, Jason Carter (Brittany), Kori Carter (Vinny), Jamie Armour (Daniel), Jennifer Carter (Chemo), Melissa Carter (Eduardo), Alicia Carter, and John Carter; sister-in-law, Marth Fetner; eleven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.

The family will have visitation from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. on Tues. Oct. 11, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church.  

Funeral services will begin at 2 P.M. at the Church. 

Interment will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery. 

Flowers are accepted or donations be made in memory of Horace Carter to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
