On Dec. 2 the LaGrange Art Museum will host its second annual Festival of the Wreaths. The event is a holiday celebration/fundraiser featuring wreaths made by local artistsbusinesses and community members.

Executive Director Laura Jennings said the idea of the festival initially came from the Junior Women’s Club, now no longer in existence, an event called Festival of the Trees.

“We thought it would be fun to do some kind of holiday-related fundraiser,” Jennings said. “The Junior Women’s Club used to have different groups decorate trees and then the trees were sold decorated. We decided to go for wreaths and asked people in the community to create a wreath that we will be having a silent auction for the night of the event on Dec. 2.”

Some wreaths created for the festival come from Marty Rothwell, Ken Worthington, Splash, Shannon Johnson from the Troup County Archives, Downtown LaGrange Development Authority, Get Troup Reading, Plum Southern and more.

The festivities will be held at the Hills & Dales Estate’s Visitor’s Center on Friday, Dec. 2 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 pm. Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the museum’s education programs.

“We’re excited about the venue this year being at the Hills and Dale estates Visitor Center because they decorate so beautifully for Christmas,” Jennings said. “It’s going to make you even more in the holiday spirit.”

Jennings said there are still tickets available for those wanting to attend the gala.

Wreaths and other holiday accessories will be sold at the gala’s silent auction. There will also be a few live auction items. Holiday attire is requested.

Tickets are $50 each and include cocktails and heavy appetizers. Tickets may be purchased online at lagrangeartmuseum.org.

Jennings said the festival is a great opportunity to get the holiday spirit as well as a great way to support art education and the museum.
