The Lafayette Christian boys basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Monday as the Cougars took a 70-55 loss to Heirway on the road.

The Cougars trailed 18-14 after the first quarter which was stretched out to a 34-24 deficit at the break. Lafayette Christian could not get back into the game in the second half as the game was just out of reach for most of the 32 minutes.

Adam Saylor was dominant even in a loss, racking up 20 points and 15 rebounds to go along with two assists and a block. Bruno Tellez was second on the team in scoring with 19 points but was not nearly as efficient as Saylor was from the field.

The Cougars fell to 4-1 on the season. Lafayette Christian will be back on the court on Thursday away to Flint River Academy.
