On Friday, Dec. 23 at 9:07 p.m. deputies and investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 24 Pyne Road (Dollar General) in regards to someone that had possibly been shot inside the store, according to a press release.

Once on scene deputies were immediately met by a store employee who told them that the store had just been robbed and that she believed she heard a gunshot from inside the store.

“As the deputy and investigator entered the store they located two additional store employees, one of which was bleeding from the head,” the release said. “After speaking with the victims it was determined that two unknown males dressed in all black entered the store front entrance, one carrying a hand gun, and went directly to the front counter. They then demanded the clerk open the cash register while striking one of the clerks in the head with the hand gun. That victim was transported to Well Star West Georgia Medicals Center for treatment.”

The release said the suspects left the store with an undetermined amount of money, the two suspects ran from the location toward Roanoke Road. After talking to witnesses and viewing store cameras a further direction of travel on foot or vehicle could not be determined at that time.

After thoroughly checking the interior of the store, investigators could not confirm if a shot was actually fired.
