Callaway fell just short to region leaders Columbia 52-50 in overtime on Tuesday.

The game featured plenty of drama as the two teams went to war for over four quarters.

The first half was a defensive slugfest with Columbia taking a narrow 17-15 lead at halftime.

The second half was more of the same as the game was tied at 45 at the end of regulation. Barely anything separated the teams in overtime as Columbia edged out the slimmest of home wins.

The action was start and stop with the teams combining to shoot 52 free throws in the game.

Lacey Thomas kept up her hot start the season by scoring another 16 points on Tuesday. She was not the only Cavalier that had a good offensive showing. Aniyah McFarland scored 13 points and Jailyn Baker had nine points — all in the second half and overtime period.

Callaway fell to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in region play. The Cavaliers are currently third in the standings and will play the sixth placed team in the standings — Towers — at home on Friday.
