LaGrange girls basketball lost 50-38 to Starr’s Mill on Friday.

The first quarter doomed the Grangers as they got into an early hole and could not crawl out of it. The Grangers trailed 22-8 at the end of the first quarter.

LaGrange outscored Starr’s Mill 14-13 in the second quarter, but the deficit still remained in double figures at the halftime break.

The Grangers were able to cut the deficit down to 46-35 at the end of the third quarter, but the offense stalled out in the final quarter of play. LaGrange could only muster three points in the fourth quarter.

The offense was a two-woman show. Brittney Heard led the team with 16 points but could not find the bottom of the basket in the pivotal fourth quarter drought. Peyton Swint could not find the basket in the fourth either but still finished with 12 points to help spark the Granger offense.

Corriah Williams hit two 3-pointers to finish with six points but no other Grangers had more than two points besides this trio of guards.

LaGrange fell to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in region play. The Grangers currently sit fourth in region play and will be traveling to play region foe Riverdale on Saturday.
