Callaway rolled over Landmark Christian 66-49 on Wednesday for a crucial region victory.

The Cavaliers had to rally after a quiet start to the game. Callaway trailed by five points after the first quarter, but the offense sparked to life in the second quarter, scoring 28 points. Tyrus Edwards led the way with 11 of his 16 points in the second as he connected on three 3-pointers and a two point basket in the quarter.

The Cavaliers were able to capture an eight-point lead at halftime. Despite the offense struggling in the third quarter, Callaway was able to stretch out its lead to double figures heading to the fourth. The Cavaliers could only muster 10 points in the third quarter, but their stifling defense limited the War Eagles to just eight points in the quarter. The Cavaliers completely controlled the fourth quarter and shut the door on any chance of a War Eagle comeback.

Bryceton Sanders continues to impress after carving out a bigger role for himself these last few weeks. The sophomore led the team with 18 points scored on five made 3-pointers as the War Eagles had no answer for him behind the arch. DeShun Coleman was steady as ever and finished with 13 points including three made 3-pointers. Besides the guard trio of Edwards, Coleman and Sanders, no other Callaway player scored in double figures. In fact, the next highest scorers were D’Arcy Harris, Koryon Hoard, and Javontae Parker who all scored four points apiece.

Callaway has now rattled off three wins in a row to improve to 9-7 overall and 8-3 in region play. The Cavaliers currently sit in second place in region 2-2A. Callawy will be away to Elite Scholars Academy on Friday for another region contest.
