As journalists, we get a lot of “coach speak.” Anyone whose heard that term knows what it means, but for anyone who doesn’t, just know it’s the buttoned up, politically correct response to a question.

It’s boring, and it’s often without personality and without hearing how the interviewee really thinks.

That was rarely the case with former Hogansville Mayor Bill Stankiewicz.

Always respectful, Stankiewicz always made himself available to talk to the press. And he’d usually tell you exactly how he felt.

For two terms, Stankiewicz represented Hogansville well in the mayor’s seat. He also previously served as city manager, including holding both positions for a while as the search for a city manager was conducted.

Stankiewicz passed away last week, and he’s going to be missed by anyone who knew him.  His impact on Hogansville was enormous, and his love for the city was evident any time he talked about new developments or events in town.

We miss him already.
