Callaway girls were in complete control on Tuesday as the Cavaliers cruised to a 57-31 win over Eagle’s Landing.

Lacey Thomas continued her hot streak lately by dominating once again on Tuesday. She finished as the game’s leading scorer with 23 points and set the tone early. Thomas scored 11 points in the first quarter to help the Cavaliers capture a 12 point lead after the opening eight minutes. Thomas did not slow down from there and scored seven points in the second quarter to help Callaway take a 40-14 lead at halftime.

Thomas finished with five points in the third quarter and her services were not required in the fourth quarter with the game no longer in the balance. Thomas uses her size and wingspan to dominate in the post but showed her versatility on Tuesday by connecting on two 3-pointers.

No other Callaway player finished in double figures for scoring with Aniyah McFarland scoring nine points and Tra’Niya Mitchell had six points to help the offensive effort. Outside of Thomas, the offensive load was shared with nine total Cavaliers scoring in the game.

Callaway improved to 13-5 overall and 10-3 in region play. The Cavaliers are currently third in the region standings with one more region game to go against Columbia at home on Friday before wrapping the regular season with a non-region game away to Valley (AL) on Saturday.
