LaGrange Academy dominated Ballard Christian 75-8 on Tuesday as the Warriors put on a show for the home crowd.

The game served as a chance to celebrate one of their own as well. Jazmin Thornton scored her 1,000th career point in the Warriors last game on the road on Monday. Since this was the first home game back since she reached this achievement, the Warriors halted the game after Thornton’s first basket to give her a ball signed by her teammates and coaches congratulating her on reaching 1,000 points.

It did not take long for the game to come to a halt as Thornton proceeded to take the ball right to the basket for an easy finish in the opening 10 seconds of the game.

She set the tone early for the Warriors, scoring a game-high 27 points — all in the first three quarters.

By the end of the first quarter the Warriors had taken a commanding 27-3 lead and never looked back from there. Ballard Christian could not get anything going on offense with the Warriors defense stifling them as they have many opponents this season.

Anna Beth Kinnersley had one of her best offensive showings of the season en route to 18 points. Kayla McBride finished with 11 points as Laura Knight got 10 to round out the Warriors in double figures scoring on the night.

LaGrange Academy has some real momentum heading into the home stretch of the season. The Warriors have now won five games in a row and will head into Friday’s game against region rivals St. George’s in good form.
