LCS earns clutch win at home

Lafayette Christian had to dig deep in a 60-57 win over Heirway on Tuesday.
It was a true four quarter battle with the Cougars taking a 10 point lead at the end of the first quarter. Heirway was able to trim the deficit down to eight by halftime and trimmed it to just one point heading into the fourth quarter. The Cougars were able to keep their cool and outscored Heirway 12-10 in the fourth quarter to close out the game.
Bruno Tellez led the Cougars in scoring with 22 points while also chipping in six rebounds and six steals as well. Adam Saylor was able to grab his second double-double in a row with 17 points and 13 rebounds while also coming away with five steals. Keaton Murphy stuffed the statsheet and finished as the team’s leading assist man in the game with nine while also grabbing 11 rebounds and scoring four points. Joshua Zapata finished with 15 points and helped spark the offense all night. Jonathan Pierson had two points to round out the scoring for the Cougars in the game.
Lafayette Christian improved to 13-3 and remain second in the region standings with a 5-2 record in region play. The Cougars play a non-region game against Flint River on Thursday before closing out the regular season with a region game against no. 1 ranked Creekside on Friday.
