The Calumet Park Community will hold its first community meeting in over a year on Feb. 9.

Lee Jones, Chair of the Calumet Park Neighborhood Association, said that they are looking to get back to holding regular meetings post-pandemic.

“We normally have community meetings every two months, we just haven’t had a lot of them because of the pandemic,” Jones said. “This will be our first one in over a year.”

Jones said during the meeting they plan to share exciting upcoming projects and events for the Calumet Park community.

“We’re going to be talking about the Calumet Habitat Troup County Housing Project, where we’re building pocket neighborhoods on Ware and Daniel St.,” Jones said.

Several upcoming community events will also be discussed during the meeting.

Jones said they will provide information on their annual summer camp that’s currently set for June when kids get out of school. This year will be the second year the community has hosted the summer camp.

The community garden on Hines St. will also be discussed.

“We’re going to be asking for volunteers to help us to finish the community garden,” Jones said.

Jones said they have other projects planned as well including a day of service and events for children.

The community meeting will be held at Warren Temple United Methodist Church Thursday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m. Warren Temple UMC is located at 416 East Depot St. in LaGrange.
