Callaway bombarded Heard County on the road in the Pulpwood Classic rivalry to earn a dominant 16-5 win on Tuesday.

It was not the start the Cavaliers were looking for with Heard County plating two runs in the first and second inning to take a quick 4-0 lead.

The Cavaliers struck back in the top of the third inning to take a 5-4 lead. Bryce Hubbard took a walk to drive in the first run before Brantin Swanson hit a two-RBI single to cut the deficit to one run. Landon Alsobrook hit a sac fly to drive in a run and tie the game before Slade Hunt also hit a sac fly to give the Cavaliers their first lead of the evening. Despite not getting a hit, Hunt ended up driving in three runs on the evening.

The Cavaliers poured it on from there, scoring three, one, three and four runs over the last four innings.

Hubbard got the start on the mound and only lasted one and a third innings before getting pulled. It was not his best showing on the mound, but he continued to impress at the plate early in the season by going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and two walks.

Hunt ended up getting the majority of work on the mound and pitched four innings, only allowing four hits and one earned run on three strikeouts.

CJ Stephens was immense for the Cavaliers and went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Blake Sheppard also kept up his torrid start to his senior campaign by going 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Callaway started the season 2-0 and will be back on the diamond Friday against Shaw.
