LaGrange Academy pulled off a massive second half rally to capture a 70-49 win over Flint River Academy on senior night.

It was not the start the Warriors were looking for as they ended up trailing 17-8 after the first quarter. The Warriors did not roll over and continued to chip away in the second quarter and reduced the deficit to just four points heading into halftime.

The Warriors came out inspired in the second half led by Jackson Malone, who had just three points in the first half. Malone scored eight points in the third quarter before exploding for 12 points in the final quarter to close out the game.

His resurgence after a quiet start was not the only one on the team. Brayden Salter went scoreless in the opening quarter before dropping 21 over the following three quarters, including 12 in the second quarter, to spark the Warrior rally.

Alex Jarvholm also offered a steady hand for the Warriors, scoring 19 points in the game.

The Warriors lone senior — Sam Anderson — finished with two points in the game. A member of the team since sixth grade, Anderson is the captain and leader of this year’s team. He has been a true multi-sport athlete for the Warriors, playing baseball, soccer and tennis as well as basketball.

While Anderson is the only senior on the team, LaGrange Academy took a moment to celebrate and memorialize a Warrior that would have been a senior this year — Caleb Kinnersley — but sadly passed away during his time attending the school. Kinnersley will remain forever young in the memories of those at LaGrange Academy and his Warrior family lifted the entire Kinnersley family up on Tuesday and remembered an individual who was more than just an athlete.

LaGrange Academy improved to 6-11 overall and 3-3 in region play. The Warriors will close out the regular season with a home game against Harvester Christian on Friday.
