LaGrange Academy waltzed its way into a region championship match after dominating Flint River 56-15 in the semifinals of the region tournament.

It did not take long for the Warriors to take control of the game, outscoring Flint River 20-4 in the first quarter to put the game out of reach early.

Jazmin Thornton set the tone for LaGrange Academy with 10 points in the first quarter. She led all scorers with 27 points as she took command of the game from the opening tip.

The Warriors poured it on from there with little resistance from Flint River.

LaGrange Academy’s defense has been stellar all year and proved their mettle once again on Thursday, never allowing more than five points in a quarter.

Kayla McBride was second on the team in scoring with nine points. Tesia Garrett-Hammett finished with eight points while Laura Knight and Anna Beth Kinnersley scored six apiece to round out the scoring for the Warriors.

LaGrange Academy will play rivals St. George on Friday at home with a region championship on the line.
