LaGrange girls fall to Carrollton, boys pull of clutch win

The LaGrange boys and girls tennis teams got their biggest test of the season on Thursday when they matched up with Carrollton. The girls suffered their first loss of the season, 4-1, while the boys pulled out a narrow 3-2 win to keep up their undefeated start to the young season.

Girls Individual Results:

No. 1 Singles: Isabella Ellerbee (C) defeated Sophie Nix (LG) 3 – 6, 6 – 3, 10 – 6

No. 2 Singles: Charlotte Collins (C) defeated Lauren Burgess (LG) 6 – 3, 0 – 6, 13 – 11

No. 3 Singles: Alisa Lee (LG) defeated Sydney Cumby (C) 6 – 3, 6 – 7 (5 – 7), 10 – 6

No. 1 Doubles: Martha Minor and Parker Penley (C) defeated Minchae Kim and Abby Grace Kornek (LG) 7 – 6 (7 – 5), 6 – 4

No. 2 Doubles: Caitlin Sanders and Anna Kate Samples (C) defeated Ava Wallace and Anna Claire Lumpkin (LG) 6 – 2, 6 – 1

Boys Individual Results:

No. 1 Singles: Will Nixon (C) defeated Wesley Minicozzi (LG) 7 – 5, 6 – 2

No. 2 Singles: Hudson Mosier (C) defeated Noah Black (LG) 7 – 6 (7 – 5), 4 – 6, 10 – 8

No. 3 Singles: Henry Huberdeau (LG) defeated Jaron Westphal (C) 6 – 1, 6 – 0

No. 1 Doubles: Towson Partin and Greg Terry (LG) defeated Ramsey Sullivan and Grayson

George (C) 6 – 1, 6 – 0

No. 2 Doubles: Kevin Park and Benjamin Lee (LG) defeated Krish Patel and Marshall Aycock (C) 6 – 3, 4 – 6, 10 – 6

The girls team now sits at 2-1 on the season while the boys improved to 3-0. The Grangers will hit the courts again on Monday when they travel to Central Carrollton.
