The Troup girls basketball team saw its season extended on Wednesday when they traveled across the state to take on Burke County and returned to Troup County with a 66-54 victory.

It was not the easiest game for the Tigers who could only muster six points which led to Troup being in a five point deficit going into the second.

The Troup offense exploded in the second quarter, led by Raygen Godfrey who scored 10 of her 14 points in the quarter to spark the Tiger offense to life. The Tigers were able to take a 29-25 lead into halftime and had all the momentum.

The second half was the Alexcia Murphy show. The Bears could not contain her as she scored 20 points over the final 16 minutes after scoring only two in the eternity of the first half.

Troup kept the Bears at bay and never let them back in the game.

Angie Dowdell was kept relatively quiet for the Tigers but was still able to score nine points.

Troup will be heading to the second round of the playoffs for the fourth year running. The Tigers will travel to Baldwin High School on Friday or Saturday for their next playoff matchup.
