OUR VIEW: Chamber puts on another fantastic forum

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Every election cycle, we’re always happy to partner with the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce for a candidate forum.

We did so again for Thursday night’s mayoral forum, which streamed on our Facebook page. But we want to make sure we make it clear how much work is done behind the scenes by the chamber just to make these forums occur.

Brandon Eley, who currently serves as the chamber chairman, always sets up the technical aspects of the forum.

With no offense to anyone else involved, we think it’s fair to say that the entire production would suffer greatly without his contribution.

Jamey Jackson, who served as moderator on Thursday, is always involved. There have been many tremendous moderators over the years for these forums, but we felt Jackson did a great job Thursday.

He wasn’t shy about following up when a question needed more thought.

Chamber President Connie Hensler, Director of Member Experience Leslie Traylor, Christian Spires — the list of those who play an important role goes on and on.

The chamber pulls the heavy load in these forums, and we’re happy to play our small part.

We thank the chamber for its continued commitment to create informed voters.
