Whitt Bowden powers LCS to road win

Lafayette Christian blasted its way past Holy Ground on Tuesday for a comfortable 12-0 win. 

The Cougars broke the deadlock in the second inning on a two-RBI single from Whitt Bowden. Bowden was sensational in the game, hitting another two-RBI single in the top of the fourth inning to make it 4-0. He was 2-for-3 with four RBIs to lead the Cougar offense. Bowden also gave the Cougars two innings on the mound, allowing no hits on two strikeouts. 

Lafayette Christian was able to add another run in the fourth inning when David Karvelas walked with the bases loaded to drive in the fifth run of the day for the Cougars. 

Lafayette Christian kept its lead comfortably intact until busting the game open with seven runs in the top of the sixth inning. Dustin Ogle got the scoring started when he scored on a balk by the Holy Ground pitcher. Matt Latour, Paul Batastini and Connor Hudson each walked with the bases loaded to make it 9-0 Cougars. Dalton Colquett grounded out to drive in the 10th run. Dylan Bucheger brought the final two runs home on a single to center field. 

The Cougars ended up deploying four different pitchers in the game. Paul Batastini went two innings and allowed one hit on five strikeouts to earn the win. Cody Batastini and Colquett pitched an inning each off the bench. 

Karvelas delivered once again after a stellar game on Monday evening, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk to his name. Bucheger, Latour, Paul Batastini and Cody Batastini all had a hit apiece in the game. 

Lafayette Christian is now 4-1 on the season. The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday against Community Christian.
