The postseason accolades keep piling up for the LaGrange Academy girls basketball team. Awards were handed out on Monday with star player Jazmin Thornton and coach Ken Klinger taking home the lion’s share of awards including GIAA Class A state player of the year and state coach of the year in what are the two most prestigious honors in the classification.

They were not the only Warriors honored for their contributions to the state championship winning team. All five starters — Tesia Garrett-Hammett, Anna Beth Kinnersley, Laura Knight, Kayla McBride and Thornton — were named to the all-region team. The three juniors — Kinnersley, Knight and Thornton — were named to the All-State team with the two seniors named to honorable mention list. McBride was also named to the GIAA senior All-State team that will play a game this Saturday.

A banquet and championship rings are currently in the works as the Warriors continue to celebrate their grand achievement of bringing home a state title to LaGrange Academy.
