A tractor trailer parked on the railroad tracks near Douglas Street was struck by a train Monday morning, according to a LaGrange Police Department press release.

The LPD responded to an accident with injuries on Douglas Street around 5:37 a.m. During the investigation, it was determined that while awaiting to deliver goods to a nearby business, the driver had parked the tractor trailer on the tracks. A slow-moving train passed through the area and struck the trailer of the vehicle, causing extensive damage to the trailer, its contents and to the train engine.

The driver complained of injuries and was transported to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center for treatment. He was cited for parking in prohibited spaces.

No one on the train was injured.
