Lafayette Christian found some late offense against New Creation on Tuesday to earn a 4-1 victory and bounce back from a tough loss last time out. 

Playing on their home field at George F. Harris Baseball Complex for the first time since Feb. 21, the Cougars were happy to be at home and happy to get back to winning. 

The game was a real pitcher’s duel with the first run not being scored until the bottom of the fifth inning. David Karvelas got the start on the mound and was sensational in a complete game, allowing just three hits on five strikeouts. 

That run that broke the deadlock in the bottom of the fifth came courtesy of Dylan Bucheger scoring on an error to make it 1-0 Cougars. New Creation quickly tied the game with a run in the top of the sixth inning. 

The sixth inning proved to be decisive with the Cougars breaking the game open in the bottom of the inning with three runs. Matt Latour walked with the bases loaded to drive in the first run of the inning and what proved to be the winning run in the game. Connor Hudson scored on a wild pitch for the second run of the inning for Lafayette Christian. Landon Childree hit an RBI single to drive in the final run of the game. Childree had the best offensive showing for the Cougars, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. 

Dustin Ogle went 2-for-3 in the game as well. Karvelas helped his cause from the plate, going 1-for-3. The Cougars only had five hits in the game with offense coming at a premium for both teams. 

Lafayette Christian is now 6-2 on the season. The Cougars next scheduled game is a doubleheader against Community Christian on Saturday.
