Finally.

Troup girls soccer team battered Riverdale 10-0 on Thursday to win their first game of the season and the first under the stewardship of first year coach Carolyn Harkness.

It has been a trying season for the Tigers who are rebuilding after two straight playoff trips. Troup has started some younger girls and there have been some growing pains but Thursday was sweet relief for the Tigers.

Freshman Grace Johnson stole the show with four goals in the game. Taylor Bain and senior leader Allie Foster scored two goals apiece. Foster is a dynamic player for the Tigers and despite the team’s struggles this year will be playing college soccer next season.

Susannah Lynn and Mackenzy Gill scored a goal each to round out the scoring for the Tigers.

Haley Kitchens has developed into a quality goalkeeper in her second full season in goal and she was rewarded on the night with her first clean sheet of the season. She showed just how good she could be by providing an assist on the evening as well.

Troup is now 1-9 on the season and 1-4 in region play. The Tigers have another winnable game on the road to North Clayton Saturday.
