The Lafayette Ballet Company (LBC) plans to enchant visitors during their production of “Cinderella,” a timeless, classic fairytale that has captured the hearts of generations. Presented by Lafayette Society for Performing Arts (LSPA) and Synovus, “Cinderella: is a two-act ballet adapted from Charles Perrault’s 1697 popular French version of “Cendrillon ou la petite pantoufle de verre.”

Amy Orr, artistic director of “Cinderella,” director of Lafayette Center for Dance and Lafayette Ballet Company, uses her ballet expertise to bring her audience iconic scenes, such as a magical transformation from Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother and her fairy assistants, a dazzling ballroom scene, and a love story that has stood the test of time. As Sergei Prokofiev plays, dreamy sets fill the background as ballet performers dance in fanciful costumes until the clock strikes twelve.

Lafayette Ballet Company’s “Cinderella” is performed by LBC dancers of all ages, backgrounds and skill sets.

“The ballroom scene is regal and dramatic, the stepsisters and stepmother are hysterical, and the fairy scenes are breathtakingly beautiful,” Orr said. “Our amazing guest artist, James LaRussa, and hometown Cinderellas, Candace Shoger and Emma Williams bring this magical story to life.”

Orr feels that Cinderella is a great introductory ballet for those who have never seen a Lafayette Ballet Company performance, stating, “Cinderella is the perfect romantic-comedy for all ages…bring a date, your children, friends, and family.”

Cinderella is a near-perfect family ballet with holistically crafted choreography, alongside attractive scenery, dynamic performances, and narratively light-hearted storytelling peppered in. The venue is at Troup High School Fine Arts Auditorium, located at 1920 Hamilton Road in LaGrange, Georgia.
