Mary E. Burnett, 94, of Lagrange, Georgia, formerly of Lanett, AL., passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at her residence.

Mrs. Burnett was born on April 21, 1928, in Lagrange, Georgia to the late Clinton Koone and Clorine Williams Koone.  

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Luther “Gene” Burnett, two sons, Jimmy Rogers and Wayne Rogers, siblings, Leroy Koone, Fred Koone, Paul Koone, Frank Koone, Miles Koone, and her sister, Katherine Koone. 

Mrs. Burnett and her husband, Luther, were longtime members of Plant City Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama.

Mrs. Burnett began working in the textile mills at a young age. She was a cloth inspector for West Point Pepperell’s Dunson Mills in Lagrange.

She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She loved her family and she loved her church family. 

She was an excellent cook and loved to cook meals for her family to enjoy.

Some of her talents included sewing, quilting in her younger years, embroidery, and ceramics. 

She would quite often design and sew clothing for her family.

 She also loved to garden and enjoyed the beauty of her flowers in the spring and summer.

She is survived by her children, Hollis Rogers (Lil), Lynn Bullock, and Donna Beckham; daughters-in-law, Ann Rogers, Faye Rogers; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Wellstar West Georgia Hospice, 1510 Vernon Road, Lagrange, Georgia 30240.  

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at 3 P.M. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with interment following in Johnson Memorial Gardens.  

The Reverend Brad Reed officiating the service.  Her family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 P.M. EDT until 3 P.M. EDT.
