The Troup baseball team had no problems handling a region doubleheader against North Clayton on Friday, winning both games by a substantial margin.

Troup batted North Clayton 16-0 in the first game that ended after just four innings played. The Tigers stormed out in front with nine runs in the first before adding three in the third and four in the fourth.

Ty Medders got the start on the mound and was excellent, pitching a shutout over four innings. He struck out a whopping nine batters on just one hit allowed. He also excelled offensively, scoring four runs on three walks.

Devon Murphy was superb offensively, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a run scored in the game. Fisher Baltzell put together a quality offensive performance as well, going 1-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Parker Townsend was a cool 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Reed Morris and Will Keeter each had a hit in the game.

The second game was more of the same as the Tigers steamrolled North Clayton 14-0 in a game that lasted all of two innings. Troup put seven past North Clayton in each of the first two innings to put the game to bed early.

The Tigers had a heavily rotated side from game one but it did not matter as the Tigers had no trouble on Friday.

Murphy continued his hot day from the plate by going 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Caleb Allen showed his stuff at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a run scored and three RBIs. Dylan Stotsky was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Ethan Goff, Batzell, Keeter and Townsend all scored two runs apiece in the game.

Troup is now 10-8 overall but more importantly, the Tigers got their first two region wins of the season to improve to 2-4 in region play. The Tigers will be back on the diamond at home next Tuesday against region foe Riverdale.
