This weekend the Junior Service League’s sixth annual Taste of the Town is set to return on April 15. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Taste of The Town will include music, food and various vendors across Lincoln, Garfield, and Jefferson Streets in the Historic Hillside community.

The free, family-friendly event is in collaboration with DASH (Dependable Affordable Sustainable Housing) and Pure Life House of Music.

All proceeds will benefit The Exceptional Way, which provides individuals with disabilities the social and recreational activities they require to promote healthy living, support social relationships, improve life skills and foster community involvement.

Grayson West, the 2023 chair, said the event will be similar to last year and include artisans and food vendors supporting this year’s benefactor, The Exceptional Way.

“Taste of the Town is used to raise money for different local organizations. This year will be our second year doing The Exceptional Way as our beneficiary,” West said.

“We’re going to have the humane society coming with animals up for adoption, unique vendors selling corn hole boards, body scrubs and all types of different things,” West said. “The Oink Joint is going to have a soft opening — I don’t think their restaurant is going to be fully open. Rock Salt Milk Bar will be having their opening day and then we’ll have live music. It’s going to be a very fun family-friendly event.”

West said there will be nine vendors and eight performers courtesy of Pure Life.

“It has been great working with our collaborators. DASH is in charge of the artisans and getting all the arts and crafts, JSL does the vendors and then Pure Life does all of the music,” West said.

“They just built a new back porch area where The Oink Joint and Rock Salt Milk Bar are so we’re going to have acoustic-type music back there as well as the front.”

She said musical acts will include the Day Jobs, Pascal’s Wager, Liam McDonald & Michael Bailey, Chattahoochee Rhythm Keepers, Conrad Johnson, Pure Life Teen Collective, Sara Greer and Nick Mayfield.

“I hope that many people come to Taste of the Town — it will be a great time for everyone,” West said.
