The LaGrange girls soccer team will be making back-to-back trips to the round 16 of the AAAA state playoffs under second-year coach Jon Callahan. The Grangers got it done in the first round on Thursday, traveling to Savannah and dominating Islands 9-0.

It was a breeze for the Grangers, who only had to rely on goalkeeper Emma Maradik to make one save as they controlled the match from the opening whistle.

Sophomore Karley Perry has elevated her game to new heights this season and took complete command of the game on Thursday, scoring a hat trick and providing an assist. She now leads the team in goals and assists with 23 and 11 respectively. Perry was not the only star who shined for LaGrange on Thursday, fellow forward Sam Cottle carved up Islands in tune to two goals and two assists. Cottle is second on the team with 22 goals as these two consistently bring the firepower up front.

Kelsey Burks, Amelia Rockwell and Tatum Fritchley all got in on the act with a goal apiece. One of the Granger goals came courtesy of an own goal from Islands. Freshman Reese Humphries also got on the scoresheet with an assist, which brings her tally up to nine on the season, good for second highest on the team.

LaGrange improved to 10-9 on the season and will play the winner of the Perry/Hardaway game in the round of 16; the Grangers would be on the road to Perry, but would host Hardaway and will know their opponent after the game is played on Friday night.
