The first two days of the LaGrange Toyota Invitational came and went in a flash as the tournament has only the final day of match play at the Highland Country Club left on the docket. 

The Grangers missed the cut for the weekend as only the top eight teams from the super competitive field of 15 teams moved on. LaGrange finished 15th after a strong showing in match day one in which they finished in 12th, just a handful of strokes from cracking the top 10. LaGrange had to play without two of its top players on Friday with Ty Ormsby and Grady Westmoreland missing the second day due to other athletic commitments. 

Day one on the Callaway Gardens Lakeview course, the Grangers found a rhythm as they played in a tournament with their top five golfers for the first time this year. Freshman Saxon Chastain led the way by shooting a 74 while all the Grangers were within touching distance of each other. Chastain finished tied for 24th out of 75 golfers. Ben Woodham shot a 77 while Hugh Kersey and Ormsby each shot a 78. Westmoreland finished with a score of 81. 

The Callaway Gardens Mountain View course was not as friendly to the Grangers who were down two quality players. Chastain was just as impressive on day two for the Grangers, shooting a 73 which was good enough for a tie for fifth place out of 75 golfers that competed on the day. Kersey and Woodham also played the second day after competing on the first day, shooting a

89 and 96, respectively. Mack Martin and Bo Bowman joined the Granger ranks for Friday’s action and shot 98 and 105, respectively.  

The LaGrange Classic low medalist was Will Baker of Prince Avenue Christian who shot a combined two day score of 139 (67 and 72) to earn the honors. 

The eight teams competing on Saturday will be Northgate, Gainesville, Perry, Harris County, Marist, Lambert, Prince Avenue and Lowndes.
