Pure Life House of Music is set to host this year’s ListenLaGrange music festival, which will benefit Circles of Troup County.

Sweet Tea Trio will headline the mini music festival on Sunday, April 23 at Pure Life House of Music on Clark Street in LaGrange. The female harmony group from Alabama has opened for acts of all genres including Bon Jovi and Alabama. They’re described as “old school country with a rhinestone flair.”

ListenLaGrange is an outdoor music festival celebrating local talent as well and this year’s lineup includes Jayy Hopp, Nick Mayfield, Lauren Hicks, Liam McDonald and Michael Bailey and Pure Life Teen Collective. The festival is held as a fundraiser for Circles of Troup County by Lewis and Broad Media, a storytelling ministry of First Presbyterian Church in LaGrange.

“We wanted a way to support Circles by raising money while also celebrating our local music talent,” said Leighton Parker, director of digital ministry with Lewis and Broad Media. “It’s designed as an event for families and friends to enjoy music and time together, so it’s intentionally family-friendly.”

Last year, the first ListenLaGrange event raised $12,000 through ticket sales and sponsorships for the nonprofit Circles, an organization that supports people who wish to lift themselves out of poverty.

“Circles is a unique organization that takes seriously the idea that reducing poverty is something we all need to be a part of,” said Sherri Brown, executive director of Circles of Troup. “Our partnerships in the community are the only way we’re able to be successful. We raise our budget every year and this is one of the most fun ways to do that. It means the world to our families to have this kind of community support.”

Circles families spend an average of two years in the program and see an average of 76 percent increase in income after 18 months. More than 200 adults have been through the program, including the current group of 16.

ListenLaGrange will be a six-hour event held outside at Pure Life House of Music with limited seating, so attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket. Food trucks and vendors will be available along with free outdoor games for the children.

Tickets are $25 online at www.purelifehouseofmusic.com or $30 at the door.
