In general, people do not like change.

And the older we grow, it feels like the more we want things to remain the same.

But, as we all learn, that isn’t realistic, even when it comes to sanitation services.

Troup County realized that its sanitation costs were ballooning and something had to be done to alleviate that cost on taxpayers. It’s been well documented that four options were presented and the county chose to move forward with a curbside sanitation provider that will also operate four convenient centers.

Martin Environmental won the bid and now enters into situation where a lot of people are upset about the changes.

But Martin Environmental didn’t make the decision.

They simply entered a bid, won the contract and are preparing to bring services to citizens of Troup County.

We sat down with the company’s CEO, Brandon Hurst, on Wednesday morning, and we had a great conversation. Martin has been active on our Facebook page, often replying back to commenters to answer questions.

Most companies don’t do that.

We think people need to give this new company a chance.

We understand that many are upset about their bill and because they have to pay more, but ultimately, Martin is not at fault for that.

Martin didn’t make the decision. We think it’s important to keep that in mind.
