An inseparable bond.

You will not find a trio of senior soccer players quite like the ones on the Lafayette Christian girls soccer team. Blakelie Guizar, Zoe Pike and Abigayle Trimeloni’s bond has no chance of waning once they don the cap and gown next month; the three will be roommates in the fall despite the fact that they will be attending three different universities.

“It’s pretty crazy, but we are all going to be moving in together in Auburn even though we are all going to different schools,” Trimeloni said. 

Pike will be heading to Point while Trimeloni will be attending Southern Union with Guizar heading to Auburn.

“Honestly, I don’t even know how it happened,” Guizar said, laughing. “We kept joking about it and eventually we decided to go ahead and do it.”

This bond started in the classroom but was forged in fire on the soccer pitch. The three experienced the full gambit of highs and lows during their time playing soccer together, which started in the eighth grade when Trimeloni joined the team.

“We’ve grown so much as individuals and together since then,” Trimeloni said. “These last five years have flown by. It doesn’t feel real that it’s about to come to an end.”

The trio is just as inseparable on the field as they are off of it. As the only three seniors on the team, they have turned into real leaders for the younger girls to look up to.

“It is a totally different feeling and definitely felt like it came out of nowhere,” Pike said. “Sometimes I feel like the younger girls lead us rather than us lead them.”

The three have seen their fair share of highs and lows over the years. The three have had a new coach and new team identity just about every year they have played. That sort of turnover year after year might have dissuaded some other young athletes, but not these three.

These girls were in it for the long haul with Trimeloni capping off her fifth year with the team while the other two wrapped their seventh season as Cougar soccer players on Tuesday. 

“It makes me sad to think this will be it,” Guizar said. “At the same time, we are excited for a new journey together.”

The lows were present but the highs certainly outweighed them as the three players looked back on their high school soccer careers. 

“We won a big game this year, and one of our coaches shaved his head for us,” Pike said as they all shared a laugh. He didn’t take much convincing.”

“This team has meant the world to me,” Trimeloni said. “Even practice is fun. Just the other day we had a water balloon fight at practice.”

It is a bittersweet conclusion for the Cougars players as they all hang up their cleats, likely for good. The three have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the Lafayette Christian soccer program and will continue to carry on the Cougar legacy as they all prepare for a move to Auburn.
