After falling to Community Christian twice in the regular season, the Lafayette Christian boys soccer team was chomping at the bit to get a third try and the Cougars finally did in the quarterfinals of the GAPPS state playoffs on Thursday, winning 6-4.

It was a magisterial performance from the Cougars attack, who had one of their best performances of the season on Thursday. What made the showing from the Cougars that much more impressive was the fact that they got blown out on the road in the first matchup with Community Christian. That was then, and this is now.

Under the pressures of the playoffs it was Joshua Zapata who put together a sensational four-goal performance to power the Cougars to a win. He was not alone, seniors Chaz Clark and Alex Tusing each scored a goal for the Cougars to ensure that Thursday would not be the final time that they suited up in blue and black.

Lafayette Christian has booked a spot in the semifinals where they will most likely be on the road next week.
