A 2-year-old has died after being accidentally shot Wednesday night, according to a LaGrange Police Department press release.

The child, identified as Ayden King, suffered from a single gunshot wound to the face. Aid was rendered by emergency staff at the scene, and King was transported to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, where King succumbed to his injuries.

The LPD said the investigation remains active, but it appears it was an accidental shooting.
