LaGrange Police Chief Garrett Fiveash has confirmed that four police department officers are under investigation. It’s unclear what the investigation is in regard to.

Fiveash did confirm the four members of LPD personnel have been placed on administrative leave.

He said he could not disclose the names of the employees as the LPD has turned the investigation over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

He said any information would need to come from the West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office in Carrollton.

“They’ve asked us not to divulge any other details and just to direct all the inquiries to them,” Fiveash said, “They’ve got some other irons in the fire and looking into some other things.”

Fiveash indicated that if it was solely an LPD internal investigation he could provide more information, but he does not want to hinder their investigation.

“There are some other mitigating factors and some of the things that we’re looking into. I don’t want to taint their investigation or compromise any evidence by releasing anything other than what they’re able to release themselves,” Fiveash said.

“Once the GBI finishes with what they’re doing, we’ll be glad to release everything.”
