LaGrange Police Chief Garrett Fiveash released a statement Wednesday regarding an internal investigation into Sgt. Josh Clower. Clower’s wife, Brandy, was arrested Tuesday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation with theft by taking and exploitation and intimidation of an elderly person.

“Based on an internal investigation conducted by the LaGrange Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards, there is currently no evidence to support Sergeant Josh Clower violating any departmental policy, violating any law, or participating in any criminal act,” Fiveash said in the statement. “Sergeant Clower voluntarily submitted to, and passed, a polygraph examination, and has been cooperating with the ongoing investigation being conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The LaGrange Police Department will be awaiting the conclusion of the GBI’s investigation, at which time our own internal investigation will be closed.”

GBI said preliminary information indicated that while Clower was employed at Holliday Realtors, she allegedly stole over $500,000 from the business. Clower was booked into the Troup County Jail. Additional charges are pending further investigation.
