Mrs. Charlotte McClendon, 93, of LaGrange, passed away on August 2, 2024.  Mrs. McClendon was a long-time resident of 584 Gray Hill School Road in West Point, Georgia and lived at Twin Fountains Nursing Home for the last eight years.  She was born in Irondale, Alabama on April 9, 1931, to the late Clyde Robertson and Mary Lila Thompson Robertson. Mrs. McClendon was a Charter member of Gray Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. McClendon enjoyed watching wrestling and Judge Judy on TV. She especially loved being treated to a Starbucks coffee. Her favorite color was purple and she loved anything with a hummingbird.  Bingo and outings with the nursing home were never missed when she was able to go. She loved her Twin Fountains family and made sure to tell everyone how good they were to her.  If they had given a prize for the most decorated room at the nursing home, she would have easily won. She was so proud to show off all her decorations and items she won at Bingo. Pretty clothes and her jewelry were her prized possessions.

Mrs. McClendon is preceded in death by her husband, James W. “Billy” McClendon and her son, James McClendon.  She is survived by her children, Sheila (David) Chastain, Gainesville, GA , Tony (Pam) McClendon, West Point, GA,  Tim (Jane) McClendon, LaGrange, GA, Donna (Alan) Birdyshaw, LaGrange, GA, and Susie (James) Wynn, LaGrange, GA; her daughter-in-law, Renda McClendon, Bowden, GA; her grandchildren, Ret. USAF Lt. Col. Jeff (Kristen) Jordan, Warrenton, VA, Randy (Tammi) McClendon, Morganton, NC, Katie (Chris) Bagley, Carrollton, GA, Shane McClendon, Senoia, GA, Leslie McClendon (Chris Hattaway), Valley, AL, Brittany (Jake) Lynch, West Point, GA, Rusty McClendon, Elmore, AL, Ryan (Jena) McClendon, LaGrange, GA, Nikki (Eric) Womble, LaGrange, GA, Jennifer (David) Cochran, LaGrange, GA, Clay (Miranda) Birdyshaw, LaGrange, GA, , Crystal (Stephen) Woodard, Gulf Breeze, FL, Tyler (Brittany) Wynn, Knoxville, TN; her 32 great-grandchildren and her 11 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand on Monday, August 5, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.  The funeral service will be held at Gray Hill Baptist Church, 3285 Bartley Road, on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM.  The committal service will directly follow the funeral and will be held at Gray Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pastor Lamar Womack and Pastor Jimmy Pruitt will officiate the service.

The family will gather and receive friends at 5050 West Point Road, LaGrange, Georgia 30240 between now and the service.
