The Troup County Board of Commissioners has voted to replace three existing HVAC units at Callaway Stadium.
Assistant County Manager Jay Anderson said the units are approximately 20 years old and they have reached the end of their useful life cycle with increasing maintenance costs.
Two of the HVAC units serve the visitor’s locker room, which will be replaced with new Carrier
5-ton units and reconnect to the existing same ductwork, power and controls.
The third HVAC unit will be for the official’s locker room and it will be replaced with a new Carrier 2-ton unit and will similarly utilize existing connections
All three units come with 5-year warranties on the compressors, 10 years on the heat exchanger and 1 year on the parts and labor.
The commissioners voted to award the bid to the lowest bidder, Jackson Services who submitted a $53,890. Additional bids were received from Air Force Heating and Air for $55,972 and Merrell & Associates for $60,100.
Funding for the units will come from ARPA funds previously set aside for air quality improvements.
Anderson said all three units were last replaced 20 years ago when the stadium underwent its last major renovation.
The units should be available for delivery within two weeks, he said, noting they are more readily available than the larger 10 and 20-ton commercial units.
