Carolyn Stephens, age 83, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024, in LaGrange, Georgia. Born on July 10, 1941, in Atlanta, she grew up in College Park near the growing Atlanta airport.

She attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. After teaching at Fayette County High School for a number of years, she then devoted her life to being a loving homemaker and cherished every moment spent with her family.

Carolyn had a passion for reading books and solving crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed playing the dulcimer, traveling in her RV, and spending time with her dogs. Her love for these activities brought joy and comfort to those around her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” and Doris Cartledge. Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband, Wilson Stephens, and her loving son, Sid Stephens and his wife Alicia. She leaves behind three adored grandchildren, Will Stephens, Joey Stephens, and Matthew Stephens. Carolyn will also be dearly missed by her brother, Ben Cartledge, and her sister, Kathryn Cartledge (Elizabeth Eve), as well as her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and Ann Williams. Several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends will remember her fondly. Carolyn’s warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family will be forever remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Dallas-Dodd Presbyterian Church, LaGrange. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Mowell Funeral Home, Peachtree City.

Interment will be at the Fayetteville City Cemetery, Fayetteville.
