Barbara Caldwell Perrow, PhD, of LaGrange, GA, formerly of San Pedro, CA, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2024 at WellStar West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, GA.
Dr. Perrow was born Jan. 15, 1930 in Gay, GA, the daughter of Lamar and Martha Funderburk Caldwell.
She was a graduate of Agnes Scott College, receiving her BA in Biology. After graduating from Agnes Scott, Barbara was employed by the Girl Scouts in Georgia, Florida and California.
All her life, Barbara loved the outdoors. Her specialties were camping and hiking. Two of her favorite memories were of traveling and hiking through Peru, and hiking trips in the High Sierras in California.
Barbara was an avid reader and student of nature. After earning her PHD in public administration, Barbara was employed by the State of California until her retirement. In 2015, after 60 years in California,
Barbara moved back to LaGrange and resided in Vernon Woods Retirement Community until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings, Martha Caldwell Power, Claude Caldwell, Elizabeth Caldwell Rhodes, Edith Caldwell Buchanan, and Avarilla Caldwell Averett.
She is survived by her son Douglas Perrow of Reseda, CA, and nieces and nephews Kathie Rhodes Manes, Leland Rhodes, Becky Buchanan Grubbs, Lynne Buchanan Washington, Claudia Caldwell DeMarco, Lamar Caldwell, Beth Caldwell Porter, Weston Caldwell, Nancy Caldwell Butler, Patricia Averett Williams, Barbara Averett Ingram, and her special caregivers; Michelle Harris, Mary Owens, Sabrina Ferrell, Martha Atwater and Darlene Revere.
The family will be holding private memorial services for Dr. Barbara C. Perrow.
