On November 21, 2024, it was announced at the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show that the all-electric 2025 EV6 SUV will be assembled by the Kia Georgia team in West Point, GA beginning in early 2025. EV6 joins the all-electric EV9 SUV and the Telluride, Sorento and Sportage SUVs on the plant’s assembly line.

“Today’s announcement by Kia is just the latest testament to how beneficial our decades-long partnership has been, both for this great job creator and the people of Georgia,” said Governor Brian P. Kemp. “That incredible partnership has helped make us the No. 1 state for business and accelerated our development as the electric mobility capital of America. I want to thank President Sean Yoon and Stuart Countess, as well as their teams, for this decision and for the opportunities it will bring to hardworking Georgians.”

During the past year-and-a-half, Kia Georgia has undergone a transformation that allows for the production of EVs and the plant’s traditional products all along the same line. This $217 million expansion created approximately 200 jobs in Troup County, bringing the plant’s total employment to more than 3,200 team members.

“The award-winning EV6 has been an integral part of Kia’s ‘Plan S’ strategy since day one and this enhancement will further our brand’s commitment to electrification,” said SeungKyu (Sean) Yoon, President and CEO of Kia North America and Kia America. “Today’s announcement that the EV6 will be built in Georgia is a testament to Kia’s ongoing commitment to the U.S. market and the state of Georgia. As the home to previous World Car of the Year winners Telluride and EV9, there is no doubt that the team at Kia Georgia will continue its legacy of successful launches with EV6.”
