William Lawrence “Larry” Fair Jr., age 81 of LaGrange, GA, passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, at Wellstar West Ga. Medical Center in LaGrange, GA surrounded by dear friends.
Larry was born in Cleveland, TN, to the late William Lawrence Fair Sr. and Doris Chancey Fair.
He attended Bradley Central High School and then moved to Columbus, GA and attended Auburn University where he graduated with a degree in Interior Design.
Larry was very successful in everything in which he ventured.
During his time in Columbus, he owned The Flower Basket and was a renowned Floral Designer.
His artistry and skill in creating unique and custom flower arrangements for weddings and special occasions was superior.
He was also one of the best chefs and caterers in Columbus providing high-quality service.
In addition to floral design and catering, Larry was a wedding planner and director for many weddings in Columbus.
Later Larry became involved in the Antique business.
He closed The Flower Basket and went to 559 Market place in Valley, AL where he was very successful buying and selling Antiques.
He opened Café 559 there as well and was the chef. People traveled from Atlanta, Montgomery, Columbus, and all over to eat there.
Larry then relocated to his current home of LaGrange where he opened Ye Old Red Door Antique Store in downtown LaGrange.
Larry loved his work, his employees, customers and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Rose Ann Fair and sister, Frances Dianne Fair and several aunts and uncles.
Larry is survived by his Aunt, Barbara Crox and numerous cousins.
Also surviving are special friends who were like family including Sandy Sodeman, Sally Scarborough and Jane Strain-Fink.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 1 P.M. – 2 P.M. on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange, GA.
The Memorial Service will begin at 2 P.M. with a reception after the service in the Event Room of Striffler-Hamby.
