UPDATE: Arrest made in house fire murder

On February 14, 2025, at approximately 6:00 PM, LaGrange Police Detectives issued murder charges against Travis Rivers following an ongoing investigation. Rivers was arrested on February 9, 2025, due to an active felony probation violation warrant and aggravated stalking charges as part of this ongoing investigation. Rivers has been held in the Troup County Jail since that date.
The following charges have been issued against Travis Rivers:
Felony Murder – 2 counts
Aggravated Assault – 2 counts
Home Invasion – 1 count
Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony – 1 count Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon – 1 count
On Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:30 PM, the LaGrange Fire Department responded to 102 Fendig Street in reference to a structure fire. Upon their arrival, firefighters extinguished the fire and located the bodies of Jabreka Williams and Roderick Kennedy. The police department and the Criminal Investigations Division were notified and responded. First responders found that Kennedy and Williams had been shot. This case is active and ongoing and no further information is available at this time. Updates will be shared as the case continues.
