The LaGrange baseball team had to dig deep to beat Harris County in a clutch 3-1 win on Monday.

The Grangers drew first blood in the bottom of the first inning when Mason Calhoun hit a sacrifice fly to drive home Grady Westmoreland.

The Tigers would hang in the game and eventually get a run in the top of the third to tie the game up.

LaGrange would keep plugging away and retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Nolan Haines would score what would end up being the winning run on a passed ball.

The Grangers would get an insurance run in the fifth inning courtesy of a one-run double from Rob Skinner.

Sinjon Lash got the start on the mound for LaGrange and pitched a strong four innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run on three strikeouts. Brandon Bennett would come in to relieve Lash for the fifth and sixth innings before Caden Wood earned the save in the seventh.

Skinner, Calhoun, Bennett and Jackson Bozeman all had a hit apiece for the home side.

LaGrange improved to 3-1 on the young season. The Grangers will be right back in action at The Branch on Tuesday when Northside (Columbus) comes to town.
