After a helicopter survey of damage from the weekend storm, officials believe there was no tornado.

On Feb. 16, 2025, around 4:02 am, Troup County and all three cities were placed under a Tornado Warning by the National Weather Service after radar indicated that a tornado was possible. The Troup County Emergency Operations Center was activated and response efforts were underway. Public Safety agencies responded to over 100 trees on roadways and several on vehicles and one residential home. There was one minor injury from this event where the patient was treated and released.

On Feb. 17, Troup County Emergency Management, Georgia Emergency Management Agency, and National Weather Service toured damage in the City of Hogansville and unincorporated areas immediately outside the city limits. The National Weather Service has determined the event we encountered was a straight line wind event with speeds reaching up to 60-70mph.

According to emergency officials, there was no evidence a tornado touched down in Troup County.
